In 1996 congress passed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The requirements of HIPAA will have changes upon how the healthcare industry handles and protects health information.

We are responsible for identifying information that must be protected. We provide an adequate level of protection for data and grant access to protected data only to those employees who we must use in the performance of their job related duties. Employees who violate our policy on HIPAA will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
We will comply with our HIPAA policy regarding PHI even if a business relationship should no longer exist.

Manual and electronic security procedures are used to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of PHI in our possession and to guard against unauthorized access.
